Saints Peter and Paul (First century AD)
Feast Day: June 29 Our Core Virtues program spotlights "Lives to Learn From" in June, and these two are extraordinary. Courage, diligence, perseverance, stewardship, and hope spurred both as they spread the Gospel in the first century. Famously, Saints Peter and Paul did not get along too well—Galatians 2:11-14 tells the story of Paul's rebuke to Peter. But it seems fitting that these two firebrands at the service of the early Church would share a feast day—showing that in the end, their love of Christ and their pursuit of virtue conquered their differences. Below, we feature two books on both St. Peter and St. Paul, and one book on each as an individual. Of course, a children's Bible is a great place to start for learning about these heroes of ancient Christianity! |
