Virtues-based character education is rooted in the ancient Greek philosophical tradition, and theCore Virtues program itself is non-sectarian in nature: it is used in both public and private schools and does not evangelize for a specific faith. The world's religions, however, are treasure-troves of virtue and wisdom. Faith-based, independent schools possess rich theological and literary traditions that can enhance education in the virtues. In these pages, we provide additional resources for schools of faith. Teachers will find a sampling of Bible stories, folklore, lives of saints, heroes, and tales from various religious traditions that exemplify and reinforce the monthly virtue.
